Since so many of us were away last week, an executive decision was taken at the (small) meeting that we should hold off discussion of the book until we have larger group. Therefore, we will meet on Wednesday, June 11, 6:30 PM, at the Food Court at Colony Mill Marketplace, to discuss Mountains Beyond Mountains: The Quest of Dr. Paul Farmer, A Man who Would Cure the World, by Tracy Kidder.
If you haven't yet read the book, here's your second chance. It's a fascinating character study of a man who manages to make a difference. There's lots to discuss about global health problems, and the interplay of wealth and politics on poverty and disease. The author is a Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award winner. The book is set in Boston, Haiti, Peru and Russia. It's only 300 pages and is available in paperback.
